10 habits to have a more positive mindset

We often face a lot of stressful and anxious situations, the least you can do to yourself is to try your best to maintain a positive mindset.

Cultivating a positive mindset can be a lot of effort but there are habits you can implement in your life that can help you with that.

Today, we will see 10 habits positive people have to maintain a positive mindset:

1. Practice positive self-talk

The way you talk to yourself and about yourself when you are with other people is extremely important. Constantly downplaying yourself, the progress you make or making yourself the butt of jokes are signs of self-sabotaging. 
Be cautious of these moments and practice positive self-talk. Talk highly about yourself.

2. Read

Reading is a great tool for constant growth. Find some writers, blogs you like and make it a habit to read everyday. Personal development books are my personal favorite but It can be about anything that you like.

Reading has many benefits such as:

  • Developing new ideas
  • Enhancing your knowledge 
  • Improving vocabulary, concentration
  • Increasing creativity

3. Surround yourself with positive people

Regardless of their success it’s important to surround yourself with people that have a positive attitude and mindset that you want to embody. It will help you develop positive habits. 
Don’t just look for skilled-people, look for people that have the energy and mindset you also want.

4. Practice mindfulness

Adding mindfulness exercises in your daily life will help you be more in the present. You can practice mindfulness at any moment of the day.

5. Journal

Journal, journal, journal.. Yes, I never stop talking about how journaling is essential to cultivate a positive mindset. 

Take some time everyday to write down your positive and negative thoughts, your desires, what you are grateful for.. I would say write about anything.

A journal is personal to you, it’s a place where you can be honest with yourself without any judgment.

6. Repeat positive affirmations and mantras

Not only that, it’s important for your self-esteem but it’s also well known that “your thoughts become your reality” whether they are positive or negative, your subconscient listens to what you keep repeating to yourself and makes it your reality.

Create a routine and say outloud 5 positive affirmations or/and mantras in the morning or before bed.

Find a list a 50 positives affirmations to help you start.

7. Declutter your environment

Take some time to declutter your workplace, home, contacts, digital space. Being organized and decluttering your environment benefits your health and helps you feel more relaxed.
Get rid of things that give you stress and anxiety including toxic people in your life.

8. Meditate

Meditation is a great way to help you slow down, reflect on yourself, visualize and improve your overall well-being. 

You don’t necessarily need to meditate for houuuuurs.. you probably don’t have time for that. You can find plenty of different mediation exercises to do, some are less than 2 minutes.

For example you can meditate: 5 minutes after waking up, 5 minutes before lunch and 5 minutes before bed.
5 minutes a day is good, 10 minutes is better, 15 minutes is excellent

The more you practice the easier it will become and after some time you will be able to meditate anywhere.

9. Practice kindness

No matter how small it is, any act of kindness will have a positive impact on someone’s life but also on yourself. Consider incorporating small acts of kindness in your daily life.

10. Do more of the things you love

To maintain a positive mindset it’s essential to make time for yourself and your hobbies. Putting yourself as your highest priority is self-care and when you take care of yourself you will be more apt to take care of others, be productive and be more positive.


As I already said, remember that cultivating a positive mindset doesn’t mean ignoring negative thoughts or experiences.
Being a positive person is about finding a balance in life and finding solutions even in challenges. 

It’s a long journey and you will have to be patient and consistent in your practice and before you notice you will see the positive outcomes.
